Gulfport

Serene and friendly Gulfport occupies 2.8 square miles in a county that has 309. The 86 year old city was first settled by a few hundred people as a fishing village. It now has more than 12,000 residents and, for a small town, there is an impressive support of its historical and art community. The Gulfport Art Village is the largest organized art community in the Tampa Bay.

Gulfport still looks like a sleepy little beach town, away from the busy tourist areas. At the center is a white sand beach, park and fishing pier that stretches into Boca Ciega Bay. The Gulfport Casino, a landmark since 1905, holds dances three nights a week.
